Access to affordable transportation is one of the biggest barriers preventing adults with disabilities from being able to go to accomplish daily tasks like going to the grocery store, doctor’s appointments, etc. Resources vary by community, but here are a few:
- Valley Ride Access Bus, provided by Valley Regional Transit, serves both Ada and Canyon county residents (208) 345-7433
- Scrip Taxi Program aka BOISE CITY SCRIP: This subsidized taxi program is available to people whose disability inhibits their ability to drive. Participants must live in the Boise City limits and may purchase coupons for discounted taxi rides by calling Valley Regional Transit at (208) 345-7433.
- Kootenai County’s orgin-to-orgin or curb-to-curb paratransit services– A Kootenai County Paratransit Elegibility Application will need to be filled out to determine eligibility.
- Veterans Affairs Transportation Program (VTP) provides transportation solutions to Veterans who need to get to and from their VA health care facilities.
